We live in the information age, but information alone is no longer enough. The real value lies in reaching the right data at the right time, making sense of it and turning it into business decisions. For industrial companies, collecting, processing and reporting production, maintenance, quality, energy and operational data reliably has therefore become critical.

The real issue: data flow, not a screen
Most industrial manufacturers now depend not only on automation systems but on the management of the data that comes from them. Unless a healthy data flow is built between PLC, SCADA, DCS, historian, ERP, maintenance management systems and enterprise data platforms, companies cannot get enough value from the data they have. What matters is not only building a report screen; it is collecting raw field data reliably, standardizing it, giving it context, passing it to the right systems and making it ready for decisions.
What we do
As ASP Otomasyon we combine our industrial automation experience with our sister company ASP Dijital Dönüşüm Hizmetleri A.Ş. to offer end-to-end data management through data analytics, Industrial DataOps, data pipelines, reporting, dashboards and AI-assisted solutions.
- Data collection: connecting to PLC, DCS and SCADA sources with drivers, OPC UA or MQTT; the connectivity layer with Kepware and OPC Router.
- Standardization: setting naming, unit and timestamp rules; preserving the quality information of the data.
- Storage: historian and SQL database; buffering that prevents data loss when a connection drops.
- Reporting and dashboards: production, downtime, energy and quality reports; shift and management dashboards.
- Upper-system integration: exchanging recipes, work orders and production results with ERP and MES.
How we proceed
- Need and data mapWe work out which decision needs which data, where the data sits and who owns it.
- A small pilotAn end-to-end data path is built on a single line or unit; results are assessed with real users.
- Standardization and extensionWith what the pilot taught, naming and the data model are settled and other sources are added.
- Operation and improvementThe pipeline is run reliably with monitoring, backups and data-quality checks.
We explained why a correct number alone is not enough and why time and quality information are also needed in timestamps and quality in production data; for energy data, how to set the measurement boundary in the energy monitoring plan article.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to replace my existing SCADA or historian?
No. In most projects the existing systems stay as sources; data is moved through the connectivity layer to the new storage and reporting layer.
Which data should I start with?
It is best to start with a small amount of reliable data tied directly to a decision, for example downtime reasons or energy consumption. A small pilot also clarifies the next steps.
How is data security ensured?
Data flow from the plant to the corporate network is designed with one-way or controlled gateways; authorization and logging are part of the architecture. See our article on OT network segmentation for details.
